Who we are

nanowrimo.ma is a free, non-commercial writing platform run by Mehdi Charouh, an individual based in Morocco (“we”). You can reach us at contact@nanowrimo.ma. How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy policy, which is part of this agreement.

Your account

• Give a real email address that you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One account per person. If you are under 18, use nanowrimo.ma with the permission of a parent or guardian.
• Manuscripts are protected by a manuscript password and a recovery code that only you hold. If you lose both, nobody, including us, can open those manuscripts again. Keep the recovery code somewhere safe.

Your writing stays yours

You keep every right to what you write here. We claim no ownership of your work and never use it for anything but running the site for you: we do not publish it, sell it, or use it to train artificial intelligence.

To run the service you give us only the permission we need to store your content and show it back to you and, if you make parts of your profile public, to show those parts to other visitors. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Using the site fairly

When you use nanowrimo.ma, including anything you put on a public profile, you agree not to:

• post anything illegal, hateful, harassing or threatening;
• post someone else's work or personal information without their permission;
• impersonate someone, or create accounts to mislead others;
• send spam, or use the site to advertise;
• try to break, overload or get around the site's security, or access what is not yours;
• collect data from the site with automated tools.

Challenges, word counts and achievements

Word counts are on the honour system: they are the numbers you log or the editor counts for you. Challenges and achievements are for motivation only; they carry no prize and no monetary value. We may correct a challenge or remove results that are clearly abusive.

A free service, in beta

nanowrimo.ma is free. It is in beta: features may change, and the site may sometimes be unavailable or make mistakes. We back up the database every night, but please keep your own copies of work that matters to you: the manuscript editor lets you export everything at any time.

The site is provided “as is”. To the extent Moroccan law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, or for loss of data or work, arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Closing an account

You can stop using the site whenever you like, and delete your account yourself in Settings, or ask us to by writing to contact@nanowrimo.ma.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your writing.

Changes and applicable law

We may update these terms as the site evolves. We will change the date above and announce significant changes on the site; continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept them.

These terms are governed by Moroccan law. If a disagreement arises, write to us first and we will try to resolve it; otherwise it will be brought before the competent Moroccan courts.
