Monthly challenge — September 2026

The Monthly challenge is nanowrimo.ma’s monthly meeting point. Pick a project, set a reasonable goal and write a little every day. The counter resets on the first day of the next month; the habit stays.

How this challenge works

1. 01

   Announce your novel

   Create a writing project, give it a working title, and set the word goal you can honestly defend.

2. 02

   Join the month

   Enter the challenge with that project. Your goal is your own; the deadline is shared.

3. 03

   Log every session

   After each sitting, record what you wrote. Two hundred words on a Tuesday still counts.

4. 04

   Finish the draft

   When the month closes you stop at whatever number you reached. A finished draft beats a perfect plan.

What counts

• Words you add to a project attached to this challenge.
• Corrections subtract from the total, because honesty beats a padded counter.
• Any session counts: 200 words on a Tuesday is still 200 words.
• Your numbers stay private; only your participation is visible.
